OverviewBar Roads for Good Men Yes, I really did it. I drove a truck in Iraq during the war there, no doubt the most dangerous job in the world at the time, and the collection of old truckers, cowboys, and bikers I worked with were the bravest, strongest, most steadfast, most reliable and straight shooting men I have ever known. I wrote this book to tell their story, lest they be forgotten. Everything in the book did happen. I simply re arranged the real events I lived to make a story. Most of it was written in Iraq.I have been writing for nearly ten-years now, and like anything else you get better with time and practice. This was my first book. I thought about rewriting it with a more skilled hand, but after reading it for the first time in a long time, I decided that it would lose its crisp authenticity if I did. Bad Roads for Good Men takes you to the Iraqi war as seen through the eyes of a man who lived it for four and one-half years. I never even had a girlfriend, O'Kelley told his English 101 instructor, in his freshman year of college. Since then things have changed. A life of doing things wrong has given him an abundance of book fodder. Two wars, two marriages and too many jobs have filled his quiver with hard-earned experience. He began writing for a friend's website in 2003. While working as a civilian contractor in the Iraqi war, he wrote a novel about his experiences there. Since then he has written three more, all based on his life. I have been called a Southern writer. I suppose I am. There are two groups in the English speaking world who are prone to put pen to paper, Southerners and the Irish. I didn't stand a chance. I have both bloods flowing in my veins. The blarney overfloweth me. I just can't help it. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
