SILVIA SAUNDERS 'A magnificent debut' NATASHA BELL 'I basically inhaled it over the course of a weekend and highly recommend' LISA SMITH 'A brilliant, tense story with beautifully drawn characters and so much emotion' HEATHER DARWENT ____________________________ Everyone has an opinion. But who can you really trust? Claire is expecting her first baby. It's her dream but not everyone is as supportive as she'd like. Isolated and vulnerable, she is drawn into an online group for 'natural motherhood' and is warmly embraced by the other mothers in the group. As Claire withdraws further into their world and with her due date fast approaching, she is unsettled by the group's conformity and the total shunning of medical intervention. But blind loyalty can be catastrophic - and her silence could be fatal... ____________________________ 'Dark and intense and such a fabulous read' 5* Reader Review 'This emotional roller coaster will keep you gripped until the very end' Heat 'An excellent, thought-provoking exploration of loneliness, healthcare and misinformation that feels all too urgent right now' Elspeth Wilson *Previously published as Baby Teeth in hardback*

Reviews

This propulsive story is a cautionary tale about how vulnerable, isolated people can be lured into toxic communities and the catastrophic consequences this can have. It's a beautifully written account that incorporates the traumas and anxieties associated with infertility, miscarriage, and pregnancy, moving slowly with a mounting sense of dread towards a startling finale * Chris Bridges * Celia Silvani perfectly captures the vulnerability of someone wanting to fit in. As her much-wanted baby's birth looms nearer, Claire is drawn ever deeper into a dark online sisterhood intent on being right at all costs. Truly unnerving * Jane Bailey * Clever, astute and subtly chilling, this novel made me extremely nervous - in a good way! With masterful pacing, the tension slowly tightens as Claire descends deeper into the toxic pull of 'mummy forums'. Celia writes effortlessly about the vulnerabilities of fertility struggles, motherhood and the different directions in which we are pulled when we are at our most fragile. I was totally absorbed * Lizzie Pook * A gripping debut. Enough plot twists to warrant reading Baby Teeth in one sitting - and perhaps a Netflix adaptation in the near future. * Glamour Magazine * I HIGHLY recommend picking up a copy! * Debut Digest * Disturbing, thought-provoking, and impossible to shake * The Indiependent * A brilliantly original tale * The Sun * This emotional roller coaster will keep you gripped until the very end * Heat Magazine * This gripping tale will keep you hooked * South London Press *

Author Information

Celia Silvani is a thirty-year-old charity communications manager and freelance writer, who has written for Stylist, The Telegraph and BBC Future on topics ranging from weddings to hurricanes. She got the inspiration for Just Between Mothers (previously titled Baby Teeth) from an NBC article she couldn't stop thinking about, and interviewed midwives and obstetricians to get a fuller picture of birthing stories - as well as spending a lot of time lurking in the dark corners of internet freebirthing groups...
