She received the Mayor's Award for Cultural Achievement and the Progress Women of Excellence Award for her work in early literacy. She is director of the Read to Me! Nova Scotia Family Literacy program and lives in Halifax. Shanda LaRamee-Jones is the provincial coordinator for the Read to Me! Nova Scotia Family Literacy Program. She has a passion for supporting early learning and has a master's of education degree in literacy. She lives in Halifax with her husband and son.
