Part of the Nature's Baby Animals series, the colorful photographs of cute baby animals in this book will attract young readers and the easy-to-read text will teach them about the animals that live in the tundra. Each book in the series, which supports the National Science Education Standards for K-4 Life Science, focuses on a specific biome and highlights several animals and their habitats. An endangered species is featured in each title. The first page of text is a simple explanation of what the tundra is and presents the theme of the book, Baby animals have special ways to stay safe and live in the tundra. The Arctic fox, musk ox, caribou, polar bear and more are then each presented on a two-page spread. One page of each chapter is a full-page photograph of the animal with its name in bold type. The other page is four or five simple facts about this animal and something that makes it safe. Their fur is brown like the grass is one example. Words to Know, table of contents and an index lend this book to teaching the parts of a book. This would be a welcome addition to the elementary library., Children's Literature
