Author Information

Bob Livingstone is an author living in Australia. His flying training in the 1960s was cut short by army conscription and a year in Vietnam. After returning to civilian life, he elected to train as an air traffic controller, rising to SATCO of the two controlled GA airfields in west Sydney and closed a 30-year career in the tower at Sydney International. In retirement, he has continued to research and write on aviation subjects and work as a technical and text editor on other authors' books and articles, holding various committee positions in aviation history organisations and is a foundation member of the Queensland Air Museum. His interest in the B-24 stems from his father's RAAF service as a navigator in the RAF's 160 (GR) Squadron, operating from Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in 1944. During his ATC career, he wrote many articles and supplied photographs for various Australian aviation magazines, including a monthly column for Australian Flying for 10 years, senior writer on Flightpath and contributing to Australian Aviation. He was also a contributor to many UK magazines, such as Air Forces Monthly, FlyPast, Aeroplane Monthly and Warbirds Worldwide. He has his own website dedicated to the B-24 and was the aviation/B-24 advisor on the film Unbroken while it filmed in Australia. He has written a number of books on the B-24, the most recent of which was published by Key Publishing.
