OverviewReal-time audiovisualisation at public events, as it currently exists, is usually carried out by a single person. It uses technology to combine numerous concepts and techniques from animation and video production, and translates them artistically into an audiovisualisation. This thesis investigates whether this audiovisual performance can be realised using automated real-time audiovisualisation software. The investigation is based on an audiovisualisation system comprising a prototypically designed programme and hardware. The programme is designed in the Max 7 development environment. The hardware consists of an audio playback device, two webcams and a laptop. The webcams provide the images for the video effects. The programme is designed to extract information from an audio signal and use it for the visualisations, video effects, control of the visualisations and the hardware. The programme is intended to operate autonomously by switching independently between the visualisations, video effects and webcams.
