OverviewThis work evaluates the effectiveness of high-dose chemotherapy followed by autologous bone marrow or blood stem cell transplantation in treating Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and multiple myeloma. Alternative salvage strategies in this rapidly developing field are reviewed, and the risk factors associated with the clinical outcome of newly diagnosed lymphomas and lymphomas in relapse are evaluated. Several fundamental issues, such as the detection of minimal residual disease in bone marrow and blood, the need for bone marrow purging and the preference of blood stem cells to bone marrow, are discussed. The use of haematopoietic growth factors such as GCSF and GMCSF after bone marrow transplantation is also described. Full Product DetailsAuthor: Axel R.
