Overview

"The award-winning team behind ""Autodrome - the Lost Race Circuits of Europe"" has reunited to bring you this stunning sequel. Covering more abandoned race circuits from across the continents, ""Autodrome 2: The Lost Circuits of the World"" has a wider scope and darker feel than the first volume. A range of derelict tracks are covered: the famous Grand Prix circuits at Rouen-Les-Essarts and Solitude are presented, alongside NASCAR's most evocative track, North Wilkesboro Speedway. Other oft-forgotten courses, such as the Opel Rennbahn in Germany, take you on an enthralling journey through motorsport's history. Today, these circuits are largely consigned to nature, but here they are uniquely resurrected through the mesmeric text of S S Collins and stunning, haunting photography of Gavin Ireland."

Author Information

S S Collins is the founding editor of Stockcar Engineering Magazine, and the deputy editor of Racecar Engineering Magazine. He is an active race car driver, currently running in the European Late Model Series. Whilst his roots are in rallying and formula car racing, in recent years Collins has become obsessed with oval racing, making his race debut on a short track in 2004. He can regularly be found around the race shops of Mooresville, NC, studying the latest technology in NASCAR Sprint Cup. Collins still harbours two major ambitions as a driver: to race at Talladega, and to drive a prototype in the famous Le Mans 24 Hours. (photographer) Gavin has only been photographing motorsport for three years, but has already established himself as a very promising talent. He holds two Masters degrees, and is a self-taught photographer, which, complemented by his unashamedly romantic view of racing, lends his photos an original and evocative style.
