Overview

This regulation prescribes policy and assigns responsibility for developing, approving, and using abbrevi- ations, brevity codes, and acronyms in Army written communications. In order to provide the widest possible access, this regulation also establishes a requirement that it be maintained on, or through a link from, an Army approved Internet/World Wide Web site. This regulation also pre- scribes policies for the uniform applica- tion and use of authorized abbreviations, brevity codes, and acronyms in Army written communications (publications, re- cords, correspondence, messages, plans, orders, and reports).
