Overview

"""It is all about conscious practice,"" asserts Dr. Steinwedel. In an effort to encourage more consciously engaged organizations, Janet Steinwedel, author of The Golden Key to Executive Coaching, brings us back to critical reflection on oneself - the Coach - and the work she or he does on her or his own inner life. This connection of ego and the Self archetypes establishes conscious awareness in service to the Coach's well-lived life and in support of the meaningful lives of others. It is in relationship with others that all of our ""stuff"" shows up. We bring our histories with us. Our childhood wounds, expectations and experiences, along with our cultural influences and biases, all tag along in every interaction in which we find ourselves. Without our conscious awareness, we confuse what really is with what we fear might be, or with what unknowingly haunts us. This work is a process--it is our life--and it will enable our growth and the growth of others in countless meaningful ways. This is the work of authenticity and individuation and we gain access to it through understanding archetypes."

Reviews

-In this honest, self-aware and self-efacing work, Dr. Steinwedel ofers the perspective of coaching as a journey meant to help both coach and coached become more fully themselves. In the process, she efectively expands on the notion of Coaching with an Analytical Framework from her earlier book, Te Golden Key to Executive Coaching, adding additional insights gleaned from the perspective of the wounded healer archetype. Fritz Haas, LPC, Clear Perspective -Steinwedel takes the complex and simplifes it to make Jung's theories immediately accessible to coaches allowing them to have greater awareness, clarity and impact in their next coaching session. Tis book illustrates the essential work coaches must do on themselves to bring more integrity to their coaching practice and the feld of coaching. Michael Nagle, Michael Nagle Consulting Group, Transformation Leadership Consultant and Executive Coach -I have known Dr. Steinwedel as a colleague and friend for over 15 years. As an executive coach she embodies both wisdom and pragmatism, developed through a commitment to her own personal journey of healing and growth. Dr. Steinwedel's new book Authenticity as an Executive Coach is an insightful resource for the new or experienced coach to quickly identify potential traps and pitfalls that can arise in a coaching relationship. Steinwedel uses the wounded healer as a powerful model for personal exploration, understanding and working with clients to create healthy engagements, relationships, and growth focused solutions. Roy A. Roper, MS, Former CEO Delmarva Blood Bank -So many of the tropes of leadership set expectations that coaches need to be perfect people--they always need to have the answers. Steinwedel's work encourages coaches to think about the places in which they are wounded, as well as the ways in which they are healing, in order to authentically identif y with themselves and others. By allowing coaches to honestly refect on their whole person, her work creates space for coaches to truly fulfll their potential and to inspire this authenticity and efectiveness in others as well.
