Overview

Australian Muslim Migrant Woman is a collection of articles & reflections reimagining a more inclusive Australia. As we commemorate 20 years since 9/11 we see a continuation of the bias, the stereotypes and the derogatory narratives on Muslim women in mainstream media, which is further cemented by promiment divisive public figures. This embeds a system that disproportionately discriminates against Muslim women, impacting their right to equal opportunities in employment, in quality education, participation in sports and recreation, positions in leadership and on boards, forming intersectional barriers for Muslim women to participate fully in society. The lack of diversity in mainstream Australian media censors the authentic voices that represent our diverse communities. It's not ambitious to reimagine an Australia that's truly inclusive of our rich diversity, one where the land thrives, the people thrive, communities thrive, connect, bloom and prosper, in harmony with the seasons and cycles of nature, collaborating as brothers and sisters in humanity.
