The Australian Concise Oxford Dictionary, Sixth Edition is a compact and comprehensive dictionary for Australian users. It presents those words that are current and relevant in the Australian context. No other Australian dictionary can claim its authority. The sixth edition draws on the most authoritative research into international English and Australian English. The dictionary was fully edited at the Australian National Dictionary Centre in Canberra--the world's leading research centre into the Australian English lexicon. Through Oxford University Press, the editors, Mark Gwynn and Amanda Laugesen, had access to the most comprehensive--and continually updated--database of the English language as it is used worldwide, the same database that informs the twenty-volume Oxford English Dictionary. Through the Centre, the editors also had access to the largest citation database of Australian English, the source of Oxford's Australian National Dictionary (second edition published in 2016).
