Established in 1981 as a New York-based interdisciplinary design studio, the initial focus was on installation art, multimedia performance, digital media, and print. These art projects led to built work such as the Blur Building and Institute of Contemporary Arts. Major projects that engage the community such as the High Line, the Broad, and the Shed followed. DS+R's unplanned growth from a design studio that started out with guerilla experimental installations on borrowed sites have now led to major projects. As the scale of their work grows they continue to place an importance on connecting with people and extending public space. Text in English and Japanese.
