This book is a comprehensive review of atrial septal defects, focusing especially on ostium secundum ASDs. The authors have done an excellent job identifying the key aspects in diagnosis and treatment of ASDs and discuss them in great detail. The objective of the book seems to be to provide a thorough review ofostium secundum ASDs, which is exceptionally met by the authors. The intended audience includes medical students, residents, pediatricians, internists, family physicians, adult and pediatric cardiology fellows, cardiologists, and midlevel providers. The authors are internationally renowned cardiologists working at a reputable hospital in India. This book is very useful in learning about ostium secundum ASDs. 3D imaging, TTE/TEE and intracardiac echocardiographic images, which are abundant in the book, make it easier for the targeted audience to understand the diagnosis and closure techniques. The authors have done a phenomenal job covering all the aspects of this entity including history, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management techniques. They have very meticulously gathered information about various closure devices and indications to use different devices. Dr AJITH ANANTHAKRISHNA PILLAI M.D, D.M, FRCP (LONDON), FACC (USA), FSCAI (USA) is currently the Head of Department of Cardiology, JIPMER. He has mentored many students in the field of Interventional Cardiology over past 12 years and has a vast experience in Complex Coronary Interventions and Nonsurgical Management of Congenital and Structural Heart Diseases in both paediatric and adult population. Dr VIDHYAKAR BALASUBRAMANIAN M.D, D.M(CARDIOLOGY), FSCAI(USA), PDF (CARDIAC ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY), CCDS (IBHRE, USA) is currently working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiology, PSGIMSR, Coimbatore. He has co- authored many national and international journals. He was associated with principal author Dr. Ajith Ananthakrishnapillai in various academic and research activities.
