Overview

Atomic Ed tells the story of Ed Grothus, from the time he worked in Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico to his transformation into an outspoken antinuclear activist. Founded by the US Government during World War II, Los Alamos was selected to be one of the sites of the top-secret Manhattan Project because of its remote location. It was here that scientists were able to harness the power of the atom, developing the weaponry used at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Archival documents, vintage and recent photographs, and a selection of letters from over fifty years of correspondence between Ed Grothus and various politicians, scientists, members of the media, and his relatives take us back and forth through the nuclear history of the United States. SELLING POINTS: . Atomic Ed shed light on the journey of Ed Grothus, from being a scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory to becoming one of the most outspoken antinuclear activist. .
