He graduated from Beijing teacher's college in 1982. obtained his master of science degree in 1985. He had been teaching plant anatomy and plant micro-technique in the department of biology in Beijing teacher's college for 10 years. He enjoys collecting wood samples and keep more than 1000 kinds of wood samples from all over the world. He concentrates on identifying Chinese antique furniture.
