I could break into a standard blurb like - Douglas Hoover lives in Charlevoix, Michigan - and such, but it always seemed too clinical for me. Instead, I'll just give you a rundown of how I got on this path.I first discovered my passion for writing as a young teen, but lack of mentoring, and discouragement left those paths distant. I've always written stories as a hobby and those stories became my escape to better places. After a long successful battle with cancer, my wonderful wife, Cheryl, asked me to pursue my true passion, so I began writing full time. Your priorities change when the inevitability of mortality comes so close.I was asked once if I wanted to be a personal kind of author where people can get to know me, or if I wanted to keep myself at a distance. It really wasn't a choice for me, as I have always been the person to yell 'Everybody in the pool'. I like people and enjoy making them smile.
