Atlanta Jeb: Based On True Events

Overview

Jeb, a boy, narrates a story set in the rocking and rolling 1950s Atlanta. His father, Hank McKnight, a combat veteran and lawyer took on the case of a poor black woman, Ida Mae Reivers, imprisoned at age nineteen for homicide. A good outcome seemed impossible. Hank's unlikely team had to fight a wider battle in the street with murder in the mix. Comments from readers: Mayhem up the street from my home, not a typical Buckhead story. C.E. ATLANTA I laughed...contains one of my all time favorite lines. M. H. GREENWICH, CT I thought I could be Ida Mae. A thriller I couldn't put it down. E. I. JACKSONVILLE, FL Interesting, funny, suspenseful. K.W. SURREY, ENGLAND Great story. R.M. SANTA BARBARA, CA

Author Information

T. K. Calhoun is a native Atlantan and fifth generation Georgian. Sheriff Herbert Jenkins A.P.D. praised T.K. as the bravest boy he ever met. Otherwise he had a normal life. He went to a grammar school named for author Margaret Mitchell. There he acquired a love of poetry after rubbing shoulders with James Dickey's nephew. He graduated from Lovett School where he first published, a poem, and scored the first touchdown in Kilpatrick Stadium. At Mr. Jefferson's University of Virginia he retired from football after his third concussion. He consoled himself at the P.K. Lodge, doors off the hinges parties. He earned degrees from Dean Tate's University of Georgia, Western and Trinity. As a professor and football coach at Westminster T .K. contemplated a book based on the conflicted and violent events he witnessed in the 1950's. But life's rollercoaster-ride took him from sleeping in a convertible VW to owning a business. He lives in North Florida with his family and Labrador retriever. T.K.'s red-clay heart is a blend pride and angst, Sunday school and scotch - all the symptoms of a southern author - now Atlanta Jeb...
