OverviewMost of the chemical pesticides currently used are highly toxic to mammals and cause ecological damage. Biological control of insects with entomopathogenic fungi (HE) is an alternative already in use today. However, it is affected by environmental conditions that regulate fungal growth. Currently, the search for secondary metabolites of fungal origin with pesticidal activity is booming. Many of them are effective at very low concentrations, are not persistent and do not cause damage to the environment. The genera Penicillium and Aspergillus appear as the main producers of bioactive substances. In the present work we studied the insecticidal activity of HE A. parasiticus extracts on Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera) and Ceratitis capitata (Diptera), insect pests of crops of economic importance in our region. Our results suggest the presence of bioinsecticidal compounds produced by Aspergillus parasiticus.
