Originally a chemist in the printing industry (with an interest in the health and safety aspects), his wide experience in asbestos consultancy over the last 20 years has lead to the provision of training courses for asbestos sampling and measurement. He played a major role in developing the BOHS Proficiency Modules which are now standard training requirements for analysts and consultants in the asbestos industry. He is a member of the HSE's Committee on Fibre measurement and its working group WG2, which produced MDHS 100.
