Wayne Mitchell is from St. Louis, Missouri. He is a US Navy veteran. In As the Child of an Alcoholic, Wayne and Tamara Mitchell share the life stories of children of alcoholics and demonstrate how to overcome the effects of growing up in an alcoholic household. The authors support each recommendation with evidence from scientific studies. Wayne is the child of an alcoholic and an enabler. Tamara is not. But this book is from both of them in equal measure. For 22 years, Wayne and Tamara Mitchell wrote the international relationship advice column Direct Answers. The column appeared in newspapers in more than a dozen countries. Tamara Mitchell was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin. She is a breast cancer survivor. Tamara says, ""We are students of relationships, who believe in observational learning. Observational Learning is the process of learning through watching others, retaining the information, and then later replicating or avoiding the behaviors that were observed.""
