She has taught visual art in general and special education settings at the elementary and secondary levels, in both public and private schools in three states. Her teaching experience gave her the foundation for applying both theory and research and the inspiration for Arts Education for Gifted Learners. Dr. Cukierkorn has published articles in the Journal of Cultural Research in Art Education, and Roeper Review, and she completed her doctoral degree in gifted education at the University of Southern Mississippi. She resides and works in Miami Beach, FL. Frances A. Karnes is professor of curriculum, instruction, and special education at The University of Southern Mississippi.
