DeHart earned his PhD in Literacy Studies from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2019. He has written widely about the use of comics in classroom work and in research; additionally, DeHart writes about the use of film and media. He has served as a middle school, high school, and university-level teacher. Peaches Hash, Ed.D., is currently a Lecturer within Appalachian State University’s Department of English and an English teacher for Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth.
