OverviewArtificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. This essay will treat Artificial Intelligence as Simulated Animal Life. In simulating animal life on earth, Artificial Intelligence will be an aggregate of computer programs (applications) that together reveal, understand, and act upon the features of the surrounding environment. To achieve this simulation, the computer must be both conscious and desirous of the world. Depending upon the design of the programmer, the consciousness of the computer will be framed by both the chosen sense organs and the process of interpreting the resulting sense data into a representation of the surrounding environment. Also depending upon the design of the programmer, the desirousness of the computer will assess and subsequently lead to actions taken by the simulation upon the constituent components of the surrounding environment that exist within the range of the consciousness of the program. To fully achieve this, the programmer will design applications that define and codify both consciousness and desirousness.
