Author Information

Bita Ghafoori, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist, a Professor at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), and the Director of the CSULB Long Beach Trauma Recovery Center. She completed post-doctoral training in PTSD treatment at UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program in the Vet-erans Administration Central California Healthcare System MIRECC Project. She also completed a post-doctoral research fellowship in disaster mental health research (Research Education in Disaster Mental Health) at Dartmouth University through a special grant by the National Institute of Mental Health. She has published widely on mental health disparities in culturally diverse traumatized groups, mental health reactions to trauma, and evidence-based therapies for traumatic distress. She presents regionally, nationally, and internationally on her research. In 2014, Dr. Ghafoori was selected to serve as a Fulbright Specialist at the University of Crete, Greece.
