The North region of Hispaniola is one of more referenced by the archaeology and the historiography of the Caribbean. However, their constant presence within them texts own of both disciplines not obeys to a deep and consistent knowledge of all moments of its history. The present study constitutes a reappraisal of the role of the interactions between a plurality of indigenous peoples that inhabited this area during the pre-Columbian period. That aspect it converts in the way to understand some of the peculiarities that distinguished this region respect to others regions of Hispaniola and of the West of the Caribbean. From that perspective, archaeological research also surpasses traditional diachronic conception in the study of the indigenous settlements to concentrate on a synchronous perception, which highlights the competition, transculturation, and syncretism derived from own multicultural mosaic of pre-Columbian Caribbean.
