Overview

This document, Army Regulation AR 700-142 Logistics Type Classification, Materiel Release, Fielding, and Transfer June 2018, prescribes Department of the Army policy and responsibilities for the Army's type classification, materiel release, fielding, and transfer processes. This regulation applies to the Regular Army, the Army National Guard/Army National Guard of the United States, and the U.S. Army Reserve, unless otherwise stated. It also applies to all personnel involved in materiel acquisition, materiel release, and the fielding of new, product improved, or displaced materiel systems developed, acquired, or used by the Army. During mobilization, procedures in this publication may be modified to support policy changes, as necessary.
