From 1969 to 1989 he directed the arms control and disarmament programme of studies at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). Since 1989 he has been Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow, Programme for Strategic amd International Security Studies at the Geneva Graduate Institute of International Studies.
