The unpredictable weather patterns in Africa, the rise of earth's surface temperature, the melting of polar ice caps, rising of sea levels and the blazing wildfires in the Americas and Australia call for urgent action to conserve Mother Nature or risk Armageddon, the final destruction of the planet. This is the subject that runs through this compilation of stories to reiterate Wangari Maathai's assertion that the future of the planet concerns all of us and we should do what we can to protect it. It is the intention of debut and established authors of this anthology to perpetuate Maathai's legacy to avert Mother Natures' vengeance against humanity. The Armageddon and Other Stories, therefore, breaks away from conventional social and political themes on the African literary scene to depict the demerits of deforestation, pollution, logging, the relegation of climate change, and other concerns of ecocriticism. At the crux of the anthology is the argument that the tendency to use financial profits to measure the success of commercial institutions without considering their role in environmental conservation is misleading. - Andrew Nyongesa. Cyclical processes that nature has designed for resource conservation are fragrantly interfered with. As a result, the threat to life has been increased due to human activities in the environment. Author Information

Andrew Nyongesa is a lecturer at Saint Paul's University (Kenya) and a writer of fiction. Some of his published works are The Endless Battle (2016), The Water Cycle (2018), and Many in One and Other Stories (2019); all of which spin around the struggle of the underdog to subvert the values of the dominant group. He is a doctoral researcher based at Kenyatta University with great interest in post-colonial and psychological criticisms. He has published several scholarly works in reputable journals including the biography of the Somali novelist, Nuruddin Farah with the University of Edinburg. The Armageddon and Other Stories is his second compilation to publish at Nsemia Inc. Publishers. John Mugubi is one of Kenya's most versatile writers and seasoned lecturer of Literature, Theatre Arts, and Film Studies. He holds Bachelors of Arts in Literature and a Masters of Arts from the University of Nairobi, and a Ph.D. in Literature from Kenyatta University. Mugubi is currently Professor of Stylistics, Film and Literary Appreciation and the Dean, School of Creative Arts, Film and Media Studies at Kenyatta University. He has published numerous scholarly works in Theatre Arts, Film, and Literature. His published books include Fundamentals of Literature, Style in Literature and Deceit and Pestilence by Royallite Publishers Limited, Kenya.
