Overview

Dr. Charles H. Bowens III retired from the Portsmouth Public Schools in June, 2000 after serving over thirty-two years as a teacher, administrator, and elementary principal. He retired from Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA in May, 2009 after serving in full-time ministry for nine years as the director of Christian education, assistant pastor, executive pastor and Angelos Bible college president. He is married to his queen, Peggy Green Bowens and they are the proud parents of two grown daughters, several adopted sons and daughters, two grandsons and several adopted grandchildren. Dr. Bowens has spent many years engaged in ministry as a Bible teacher, seminar, workshop, retreat facilitator and motivational speaker. He is an author of several books. His works include, 12 Destructive Pastoral Behavior, (published in Ministry Today Magazine); The Work and Ministry of the Holy Spirit: A Comprehensive Study of Spiritual Gifts (published as his Dissertation); A Comprehensive Study of Revelation, (Study Book); and Your Kingdom Guide to Kingship, Priesthood and Judgeship published by Xulon Press, 2010. Dr. Bowens obtained his B.A. degree in psychology from Norfolk State University, a M.S. degree in science education from Virginia State University, an advanced M. Ed. degree in public school administration from Old Dominion University, a M. Div. degree from Luther Rice Seminary and University, a Doctoral degree in Christian education from Providence Bible College and Theological Seminary and has completed all required course work for the Doctoral degree in educational administration from Va. Tech University. Dr. Bowens currently serves as an adjunct professor at Tidewater Community College where he teaches geology, early childhood education and student success skill classes. Charles is committed to equipping saints for the work of the ministry on earth and for priesthood in the coming Kingdom of Christ. He believes that the 21st century is the last and final days before the Lord returns for His Church and sets up His Millennial Kingdom.
