Finally, I discuss many tax obligations you will face and insurance options available for your household's protection during your lifetime. Instilling the discipline to follow these key principles will help you avoid many financial pitfalls that can mitigate your net worth.

Jack Letzer is the author of Are You BEHIND The Eight Ball: Six Cornerstones to Personal Financial Freedom. He received his M.B.A from Loyola University Maryland in 1994 and aside from his role as a Senior Financial Manager for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, he is also an Affiliate Finance Professor at Loyola University of Maryland teaching Personal Financial Management and Fundamentals of Finance. He also conducts financial seminars for makingCHANGE, a financial wellness firm. Jack enjoys counseling young students, serving as Chairman of the Howard County Public School System's Financial Advisory Board in Maryland.
