Author Information

Andrew Swift is a former teacher of modern languages, and is now a freelance translator. The idea for 'Arabic Script - A Photographic Guide' came to him on an extended visit to the United Arab Emirates when he realised that the bilingual shop names and street signs were an ideal visual aid for teaching the rudiments of the Arabic alphabet to beginners in the language. He toured the main streets, souqs and malls of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah taking more than 4,000 photos which he then sorted into a reader-friendly order.
