This manual is intended for use in advanced courses in French. It seeks to improve students' writing skills while teaching them essential techniques and strategies for different types of writing. This new edition contains suggestions for teachers as well as new documents and exercises. Its goals are: to maintain students' interest by having them express themselves in writing in a wide variety of contexts; to give them a sense of the fundamental structure of the French language; to relate what they learn in university to the world of work; to encourage them to work independently; to meet the needs of a diverse class of students with different needs and degrees of preparation.
