He has been practicing law for 40 years, licensed in KY and OH. He holds an AV - Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating for both legal ability and ethical standards. He was recognized as the Northern KY Bar Association's Distinguished Attorney in 2004 and was given the Richard D. Lawrence Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.Tom gives continuing education presentations on attorney ethics annually.He became an initial member of the KBA Ethics Hotline when it was created and served in that role for 15 years, leaving the post upon election to the KBA's Board of Governors. The BOG serves the KY Supreme Court in its obligation to 'keep a proper discipline' among members of the KY Bar. Tom gave 10 years of service on this Board, being actively involved in all aspects of lawyer discipline and amendment to and enforcement of KY's Supreme Court Rules.
