Overview

The purpose of this workbook is for students to practice what they learn via video lessons and/or tutoring sessions. This workbook is a continuation of the Applied ESL Life Skills student workbooks 1 and 2 focusing on life skills and everyday English. Each exercise and activities are selected from topics based on lessons. Activities range from grammar, spelling, and vocabulary practice to reading and writing comprehension. Each activity is based on real-life scenarios that students can apply in their daily life. This workbook is not based on a particular English level. Instead, the lessons and exercises offer students an opportunity to review and practice their English skills.

Author Information

Dara K. Fulton is an author and English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She has been writing since childhood, owning her first journal at 9 years old. Dara has always enjoyed expressing herself through writing and art. By the time she reached high school, Dara's English teacher encouraged her to write about her traumatic junior high school experience as part of a class assignment. Once she did, Dara found her voice, giving her the courage to express herself freely and candidly. Dara wrote her first book, Life's Reflective Twists in 2017 which is a memoir/inspirational novel based on her life's many twists which includes her struggle with depression, job loss, breakups, assault, and hip surgeries. Life's Reflective Twists is based on her blog, Dara's Creative Corner that shares these experiences and posts about her teaching journey, and how reflection can help in overcoming hardships. Since then, Dara has become the founder and ESL teacher to her company, Applied ESL, LLC. Since 2019, she has published 6 English as a Second Language (ESL) books which includes student workbooks that give practical lessons based on real life scenarios, job readiness, and learning various street signs.
