The sole objective of any library is to make all possible efforts to achieve its goals and objectives by catering all the needs of the users. The concept of Six Sigma is to eliminate defects and can be applied in library field to maximise the users satisfaction by eliminating their complaints and problems. In today's era, the reader is known as customer and the librarian is the information manager. If we consider library as a corporate entity, six sigma would ensure the users needs are properly and fully catered. The Six Sigma methodologies for quality improvement is a system of many concepts, tools, and principles. A gauge of quality and efficiency, Six Sigma is also a measure of excellence. Embarking on a Six Sigma program means delivering top-quality service and products while virtually eliminating all internal inefficiencies. A true Six Sigma organisation produces not only excellent product but also maintains highly efficient production and administrative systems that works effectively with the organisation's other service processes. The primary factor in the successful implementation of a six sigma project is to have all the necessary resources and the support and leadership of the top management. Vrushali Dandawate (B.A., M.Lib.& I.Sc., PGDLAN) is currently working as Librarian/Head of Central Library AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune. She has also worked as a Library consultant in Chest Research Foundation, Pune and worked as a Guest Lecturer in Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth. She was a Librarian in Air Force School and Junior College, Pune, for Six years. She has great command on computer and IT. She has contributed several papers in national and state level conferences.
