Author Information

Yuri Skiba graduated from Novosibirsk State University, Russia, in 1971, and received his Ph.D. in physics and mathematics in 1979. He spent 15 years working as a researcher at the Computer Center (Acad. Sci. USSR, Novosibirsk). In 1980-81, he took part in two semi-annual marine research expeditions in the Indian Ocean. In 1985, he joined the Computer Center of Scientific and Technical Information (USSR Council of Ministers, Moscow) as a Senior Scientist. From 1987 to 1994 he worked in the Institute of Numerical Mathematics (Acad. Sci. USSR, Moscow). In 1989, he was awarded the scientific and educational title ""Senior Scientific Researcher of the USSR"". From 1988 to 1990 he worked as a Senior Scientist at the Indian Institute of Technology (New Delhi), Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore) and Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (Pune). Since 1992 he has worked at the Center for Atmospheric Sciences (UNAM University, Mexico City) heading the laboratory of Mathematical Modeling of Atmospheric Processes. He is a specialist in applied and numerical mathematics, fluid dynamics and pollution control. He has published 175 journal and book articles and six books. He is a member of the National System of Researchers (Mexico), American Mathematical Society (USA), Union Geofisica Mexicana, etc.
