Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDarren Cope created his first programs in BASIC on a very dear ZX Spectrum+ with 48K of memory and 8 colors (although you could make them flash!). He programmed in his bedroom on a portable TV with a 4.5 inch screen. Fast forward nearly 30 years and he now develops apps for devices with screens of around the same size! You might be forgiven for thinking that not much has changed.Well you would be wrong; it has changed massively. Using the new breed of mobile phones we can now (possibly carelessly) declare variables that can take up more memory than that available on the Spectrum. They are hundreds of times faster. The screen may be the same size but it now has millions of colors and practically incomparable resolution, they don't need a cassette player to load programs, and the new devices are also phones, and they don't even need a telephone cable! After leaving university with his Computer Science degree Darren spent over a decade programming Oracle databases with PL/SQL and Oracle Forms. It's still his bread-and-butter skill. However, in the late 2000s with the success of the iPad and iPhone he decided it was time to get into the world of Smartphones, tablets, and apps. The revolution caused by the new devices and apps that is currently leading the move away from the dominance of the PC towards a new method of interaction could not be ignored.Fast forward a few years and Darren Cope is now an experienced Titanium developer. He holds TCAD and TCMD certifications and as well as creating apps he has developed modules for the Appcelerator Marketplace. He attended the inaugural CODESTRONG conference in San Francisco in October 2011 and continues to preach the benefits of coding with Titanium through the Appcelerator Titans program.Darren Cope lives with his wife and small child in Manchester, England. When he is not writing books or developing apps he can either be found at home with his family, walking the dog (although not often enough according to his wife), or training for a marathon or triathlon. He is very eager to hear from other Titanium developers in the north of England and hopes to start a user group for them. He can be contacted either through his personal website at http://darren.cope.name or by email mail@darren.cope.name. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
