Overview

This book describes the applications of the quantification of the plasma apo AI and B proteins for the identification and follow-up of patients at risk of developing cardiovascular disease. It begins with a few general papers about the biochemistry and pathophysiology of apolipoproteins, their methods and measurements. A review of the clinical studies where apoprotein measurements were performed for the evaluation of cardiovascular risk is included. Additional technical papers describe the use of immunoprecipitation methods and their application to the quantification of apo AI and B. The interpretation of these measurements by clinical chemists and their interpretation in combination with classical lipid parameters is analyzed at the end of the book.
