OverviewThe ethanolic leaf extract of Lantana camara exhibits strong anti-arthritic potential through both in vitro and in silico studies. Phytochemical analyses confirmed the presence of bioactive compounds including flavonoids, phenols, tannins, steroids, and terpenoids with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In vitro assays demonstrated significant free radical scavenging activity, protein denaturation inhibition, protease inhibition, and membrane stabilization, which are key mechanisms against arthritis. In silico molecular docking revealed effective binding of major phytochemicals to inflammatory targets COX-2 and JAK-3, supporting their role in inflammation modulation. These results indicate that the extract can reduce oxidative stress and inflammatory responses linked to arthritis, making it a promising natural therapeutic candidate. Further studies are recommended to validate clinical efficacy and safety for arthritis treatment.
