Anna's House

Overview

My mother has always had a passion for writing. For the past two-ish decades, she has used Facebook as an outlet for this skill. Rather than posting status updates, she has posted her life stories. The good, the bad, and the ugly. She passed this passion on to me, and though I love to write fictitious stories and poems, I've never quite been able to capture the authenticity of the real world in the same way that she has. Though shared with a small community, her writing has touched so many hearts and souls over the years. Those privileged to read my mother's writing do not take it for granted. And yes, she gives the people what they want, but it was never really about the audience. It was always about us. The people she grew up with, the people she loved, and the people she made-in more ways than one. She writes to remember, and she writes to share what she has learned throughout her unique experiences. And though Facebook has been a good method for her, it can be a pain to scroll through writing rather than hold it in your hands-trust me on that one. My mother has always made sure I have a physical copy of all of my accomplishments, so I thought I would return the favor. Anna's House is a compilation of the last 10 (ish) years of my mother's Facebook posts, specifically those in which she details lessons learned or noteworthy stories. I scraped all of her writings of the past ten years from Facebook and did my best to edit out any grammatical or spelling issues (and though I'm sure I missed a few, I think you might want to reflect on your use of semicolons). I have also divided the stories into two sections: Wise Words and Storytime. Wise Words holds my mother's more life-lesson-y writings, while Storytime contains the more daily occurrences she has noted down. As you have held all of our hearts in your hands, so too shall you hold your own. I love you, Mom. I am so proud of who you have grown to be. Enjoy.
