Prof. Dr.-Ing. Valentin Plenk studierte Elektrotechnik an der TU München. Er promovierte zum Dr.-Ing. an der Fakultät Maschinenwesen der TU München. Nach Abschluss seiner Promotion entwickelte er in verantwortlicher Position Hard- und Software für die Steuerung von Sondermaschinen im Halbleiterbereich. Seit 2000 ist Valentin Plenk Professor an der Hochschule Hof. Dort vertritt er das Lehrgebiet Steuerungstechnik und leitet seit 2016 die Forschungsgruppe Cyber-Physical Systems am Institut für Informationssysteme, dessen Leitung er im Oktober 2017 übernahm. 2020 wechselte er als Vizepräsident für Forschung und Entwicklung in die Hochschulleitung.
