As a native of Southern California, I have personally witnessed the crisis depictedinAngels Unawares: Portraits of the Homeless in L.A.Casey CoatesDanson combines her talents as a photographer and her passion for social justiceto create awareness and influence change. Her inspiring work lends voices andfaces to the forgotten among us. -- Ed Begley Jr. Actor, producer, activist Angels Unawares humanizes our [homelessness] crisis with a powerful visualization of America's inequality gap. We should heed [Casey Coates Danson's] call to compassion and recognize that the only way to end homelessness and the war economy is by undergoing a revolution of values and creating a peace economy that enriches our humanity. -- Jodie Evans Cofounder of CODEPINK

Author Information

Casey Coates Danson received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in environmental design from Parsons School of Design, and graduated with honors in 1975. She is known for designing solar powered homes, which populate the pages of Angels Unawares. As a mother of two with a strong sense of stewardship for the earth and its people, Danson established her own nonprofit organization, Global Possibilities, as a national solar and renewable energy advocate to promote the use of sustainable energy. In her endless quest to bring awareness to that which concerns her, she recently focused on the issue of homelessness in this country - a project that has been in the works for more than 12 years - and out of that came her photography book Angels Unawares.
