Overview

Initially, all great truths are rejected. This can be seen as our religion-based society shifts to embrace spirituality. Unfortunately, this process can leave families, friends, and individuals floundering in its wake. So it was with me as turmoil erupted after a short answer from my pastor shocked me to think differently about my religion. The following years were filled with roller-coaster rides of confrontations and strange events, which led to unexpected places related to attrition, invention, and quantum physics. Ultimately, my path took me beyond religion to spiritual freedom. My greatest hope is that my story and lessons learned will help you in your journey.

Reviews

This was an interesting read on many levels. The first part summarizes the author's growth and spiritual development. I related to many of the observations and experiences. The second part delved into HOW our thoughts and prayers 'work'. There are a lot of references for further reading and expansion of the points made here. I found myself thinking of the contents of this book over the past few weeks after my first reading. -B. Holcombe Life is a journey, and you come away from reading this book feeling confident in all its twists and turns. Anyone who questions their faith, or struggles to accept the religious beliefs of their parents will find comfort in this intimate story. -Maureen Saks First and foremost, the writer's style is extremely engaging and welcoming. Reading his prose is like sitting down and having a heart to heart talk with him. The book is never off-putting, haughty, lecturing, or impersonal. The author's journey, and his explorations of spirituality and the human condition are interesting, with a rich melange of humor, heartbreak, and triumph. From his childhood religion, through spiritual conflict, exposure to other faiths, and near emotional destruction, the author's path to spiritual freedom had me entertained, engaged, and reflecting. If you have ever pondered the seemingly endless questions about God, religion, or spirituality (and quite frankly, who hasn't), this book will get you thinking. The author examines myriad religious/spiritual uncertainties and conundrums, inevitably ones you have wrestled with yourself. -Mark R. Vogel PhD As someone who was not raised with religion but has grown interested in spirituality, I am drawn to learning others' experiences and found this book to be a truly thoughtful, easy read. This is not always the case when reading about religion, which can often be a heavy topic. The author's careful illustration of his introduction to religion, description of his devout faith that was punctuated by nagging questions, his approach to seeking the answers, and his interpretation of his findings are a refreshing and engaging account of a journey that offers numerous perspectives and lessons along the way. A highly recommended read that demonstrate how curiosity and the questioning of traditional thinking can illuminate many different paths to exploring an individual's spiritual journey. -Jill Cantelmo PhD
