He received his doctorate from Ball State University (Indiana) in social science education and American history. In addition to biographical portraits published in articles and chapters, he has also written on educational history, practice, and policy. Beineke is currently associate director of the Kellogg National Leadership Program at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. He has three children and lives with his wife Debbie in Battle Creek, Michigan.
