Overview

This suite of five miniatures provides the young trumpeter with a variety of entertaining pieces that remain true to the spirit of early and classic jazz - a time when the trumpet or cornet emerged to reign supreme in the jazz band. The suite comprises a rag, a blues (here in sophisticated irregular form), a stomp with a Latin flavour, a slow and sentimental ballad and a final dash in quick march time (the marching and street bands of New Orleans providing an apprenticeship for many a renowned trumpeter).
