Although based on a true historical event, the 1922 Burning of Smyrna-and containing details from the author's own family history-a liberal use of imagination has forwarded the creation of this book. A great deal of research has gone into the writing of this book and most of the history is as accurate as the author could make it. But many of the names, characters, events, and incidents in this book are either the product of the author's imagination or based on real people, but fictionalized.
