Ancient Yet Modern, Popular Yet Unknown: The Chinese Jujube: An In-Depth Guide to Growing and Propagating Chinese Jujubes

Overview

As crop diversification, antioxidant consumption, water conservation, barren land utilization, and organic/pesticide-free farming get more relevant-- the more promising the Chinese Jujube! This publication does not just describe more than 50 cultivars of the Chinese Jujube, or Ziziphus jujuba, but also depicts all of them in pictures as fruits in vivo and in situ. In the book are 280+ full-color photographs, plus smartphone-accessible links to additional photos** and video updates of our current trees, including yearly giveaways* and yearly documentation of our topiary/sculptural trees-in-training/future cultivar acquisitions plus novel cultivars we are selecting from specimens painstakingly grown from seeds: de novo Jujube cultivars sown and grown in Las Vegas, NV, USA. Additionally, the identification and selection of Chinese Jujube stems(unique to the species) are explained in detail with photo sequences of grafting and propagation via rootstock and seedlings. Also included is a never-before and admittedly radical 'take' on the mechanics behind successful grafting of fruit trees(in general), and not just pertaining to grafting of Chinese Jujubes. Being incredibly long-lived, resilient, and dependable a source of nutritionally-dense crops in times of drought and pestilence, this species is by its lonesome among deciduous fruit trees. The ultimate option for folks who diligently save for a rainy day-- or lack of rainy days. *thanks for considering this publication! Will continue to pay it forward by holding giveaways(postage included, continental USA only excluding Alaska) self-rooted clones of our novel Vegas cultivars(grown from seeds and evaluated over several years' production) on a first-come-first-served basis every Thanksgiving. Author Information

Has a background in healthcare/biological sciences and decades of fruit-growing experience in tropical, sub-tropical, and temperate regions of mother earth. Growing fruit trees has always been easy, until he and daughter(Patricia) relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, where conditions are either too hot, too cold, and/or too dry for many conventional fruit trees. It was where they got acquainted with Chinese Jujube trees, which almost instantly transformed them into ardent advocates. Rafael and Patricia also enjoy growing several cultivars of Persian/Black mulberries, Figs, Pomegranates, and desert-hardy Citrus.
