Overview

Explore the ancient world on a tour of the most beautiful, vibrant, and fascinating places people have called home. History Unboxed takes you outside the box of a traditional history curriculum, exploring cultures around the globe on a journey across six continents. Get to know the Jomon people of Japan, the African empire of Ghana, and the Olmecs of Mesoamerica, alongside history heavyweights such as the Greeks and Sumerians. Take a look at the past through a secular lens and go beyond dates and battles for an engaging, approachable, relatable journey into a story that belongs to all of us -- the history of peoples all over the world. We want every child to love history, so we made this book with over 125 gorgeous photos, maps, and original art. A high interest, engaging view of the past will draw your student in, while our expertly curated book lists and resources make it easy to explore farther in areas where you and your student want to know more. Make your student's history book something they want to get their hands on.

Author Information

Stephanie grew up loving historical fiction and disliking studying history in school. An amazing professor turned her into a history major through his gift for storytelling. After discovering that she actually loved history, she got into living history and has worked or volunteered as a living history interpreter ever since. After earning a Master's Degree in Elementary Education, she taught ancient history to fifth graders. Her combined passion for history and education led to a job writing for History Unboxed in 2015. She most enjoys researching lesser-known cultures and writing about food trends through time. Her proudest accomplishment is passing on her love of history to her homeschooled children. Elizabeth Hauris is an award winning author, living history expert, and home education veteran parent of 18 years. Armed with a deep love of child led learning and a passion for marginalized history Elizabeth founded History Unboxed LLC in 2016 and has grown from a micro start up to an international educational resource to assist families everywhere in kindling the spark of life long learning.
