Ana's Odyssey: The Beginning

Overview

Ana was born in a world plagued with poverty, ignorance, hopelessness and misery. In a world that ""men commanded"" and women had no say on their decisions or wishes. Women had to be submissive and obedient to their parents and later to their husbands. Women had to obey even the most senseless and clueless orders in addition to be regarded as less intelligent or creative than men. When Ana was born, her father was expecting a boy since ""boys"" were a ""blessing"" while girls were only a ""waste of time and money""... As a result, that concept only created a challenge in Ana's mind, she would grow up and educate herself to demonstrate that there is no impediment in any girl's mind, other than the poor perception of others.

Author Information

The author was born in a small village far away from civilization during times of crisis and transitions. She was born in a warm morning of Summer. The warm breeze and sunrise witnessed her arrival to the this world. That was probably the reason why she always enjoyed waking up with dawn as her companion. The Summer also molded her character and temper that even when circumstances were hostile, she never surrendered to the adversity. In spite of adversity, and poor expectations of her parents, -who had planned her destiny thinking she will become one of the common young women (of the epoch) who will be expected to be chosen by any type of man who would do the ""favor"" of taking them as wives and future mothers of their children-. She invested her time on changing the status quo.... The author decided she will grow against all the odds and will reinvent her own destiny. So she enrolled herself in elementary school, to escape from poverty and change the course of her life. After completing her elementary school, her family moved to the city. She continued her education there graduated from high school, college, and eventually completed her licensure in Political Science and Public Administration. After trying to settle herself as a professional and being unable to find the job she was expecting., she decided to move to another state where she continued her education. She then learnt another language, completed college in another discipline, then pursued her masters degree in Social Work, and Post grad as a LCSW.
